This is a legal document which sets out how NovaMarque handles data which identifies you. You should read it in conjunction with the NovaMarque Terms and Conditions, of which this Privacy Policy forms part.
- Statement of Intent
Upon registration you will be asked to submit personal information about yourself (e.g. name and email address etc) in order to use the services provided by the Galore Network Service.
Currently these services are provided through the following Galore Network Service websites:
- www.regularsreunited.co.uk
- www.pubsgalore.co.uk
- www.fansgalore.co.uk
- www.galorenetwork.co.uk
By entering your details in the fields requested, you enable NovaMarque and it service providers to provide you with the services you select. Whenever you provide such personal information, we will treat that information in accordance with this policy. NovaMarque will act in accordance with current legislation and aim to meet current Internet best practice.
- Information on visitors
During the course of any visit to a Galore Network Service website, the pages you see along with something called a cookie, are downloaded to your computer (see point 4 for more on this). Most websites do this, because cookies allow the website publisher to do useful things like find out whether the computer (and probably its user) has visited the site before. This is done on a repeat visit by finding the cookie left there by the last visit.
NovaMarque may at times gather non-personal statistical information from visitors to the site. This includes:
- paths taken by visitors through Galore Network Service website’s
- duration of individual page view
- data on visitors screen settings
- other general information
This information is gathered to try and improve the quality of service provided to visitors and members on the Galore Network Service and is exclusively used by NovaMarque.
- Information specific to members
Information gathered on registration. When you register for the Galore Network Service, you provide your name, email address, and optionally other personal information about yourself ("Registration Information"). These details are available to you, and capable of being changed, through www.galorenetwork.co.uk, whilst logged in.
As well as this information as described in point 2 is retained for members and in some cases may be kept as personal information about that member. Where this is done it is used by the Galore Network Service to provide a personalised interface for the member.
- What is a Cookie, how they are used by Galore Network Service
When you enter a Galore Network Service website your computer will automatically be issued with a cookie (session cookie), and under certain circumstances a computer identifier is issued, this is used as part of our tests to stop members having their information stolen. Cookies are text files that identify your computer to our server. Cookies in themselves do not identify the individual user, just the computer used. Many sites do this whenever a user visits their site in order to track traffic flows.
As well as this members have the opportunity to have cookies set on their machine to allow the Galore Network Service to automatically log them into a registered website. This information is only stored on the machine at the time that the member selects this option, prior to this no information is stored on the computer by the Galore Network Service that would allow for malicious abuse of members data by a user at the same machine after the member has logged out.
Users have the opportunity to set their computers to accept all cookies, to notify them when a cookie is issued or not to receive cookies at any time. The last of these means that certain personalised services cannot then be provided to that user.
Third party cookies may be used on some parts of Galore Network service’s websites. They are used for tracking the success of advertising campaigns. These cookies are normally permanent. Blocking of third party cookies by users will not affect the functionality of Galore Network Service’s enhancements.
- Storage and use of information
NovaMarque will not supply your personal data to a third party for commercial exploitation. The only circumstances a third party will be provided with this information are for the provision of enhanced services as described in this policy document.
Member information as entered during registration falls into the following headings
- Personal information, this is composed of the members first name, middle initials and last name. This will be presented to users who search for components of that name along with relevant registration information as described below.
- Email addresses, we do not directly make your email address available to anyone on any screen of the Galore Network Service. See also point 7 for how NovaMarque use the email.
- Registration Information, all remaining information will be used based on specific services provided by Galore Network Service, where information is considered registration information its use is clearly marked on the registration form.
Specific member information kept is:
- First Name & Last Name: (Mandatory) This is kept to personalise the experience and allow other Galore Network Service users to identify you.
- Middle Initial(s): (Optional) This is kept to personalise the experience and allow other Galore Network Service users to identify you.
- Date of Birth & Gender: (Optional) This is being gathered to use in future site enhancements, eg pub meets.
- Phone Brand: (Optional) This is being gathered for research, future enhancements will include mobile phone features, eg messaging, ringtones and pub pranks.
- County & Town: (Optional) This is being gathered for use in future site enhancements, eg pub meets, pub crawls, nearest pubs.
- Postcode: (Optional) This is being gathered for use in future site enhancements, eg pub crawls, nearest pubs. Members should note that they need only submit as much of the postcode as they are comfortable with, the first block allows identification of district, the first block with the second block digit allows identification of a unique area within a district, and the full postcode allows for identification within roughly 50 houses.
- Nickname: (Mandatory) This is used to identify members comments that they may make on the site, it is kept as unique so that members can identify the same persons feedback.
- Email Address: (Mandatory) This is used to identify members for login. Galore Network Service will not make available email addresses to other Galore Network Service members, and members should take all appropriate action to protect their email addresses. Members should also take note of point 7 with regards to email usage.
- Password: (Mandatory) This is used to allow members to log in to their personal account. Members should protect their password and never make it available to anyone. NovaMarque employees will never ask a member for their password and any attempt to obtain a members password should be reported to the Galore Network Service admin (admin@galorenetwork.co.uk).
Information entered by registered members of Galore Network on its sites listed in point 1 that is not shown as registration information above should be considered insecure and visible to any visitor of galore network. This information will generally take the form of showing usage of a venue, and comments and feedback on it, if a member is unhappy about this information being shared they should not submit it.
Advertising information, the Galore Network Service may include interactive advertising for other businesses. We may use, and provide to third parties, non personal demographic data provided by members to target this advertising more appropriately.
If all of the assets which Galore Network Service uses to operate its business (or substantially all of them) are acquired by a third party, we may transfer personal data we then hold to that party.
We have security measures in place to protect our customer database and access to this database is restricted internally. However, it remains each Member’s responsibility:
- to protect against unauthorised access to their Galore Network Service members areas;
- to ensure against use by anyone else through the machine that Member uses while they are "logged on" to the Galore Network Service;
- to log off or exit from the Galore Network Service when not using it; and
- to keep his/her password secret.
You may have your registration details removed by closing the account see point 6. To close the account please use the interface provided at the Galore Network website (www.galorenetwork.co.uk), whilst logged in.
We reserve the right to communicate such of a Member’s personal information as we hold to third parties which seek the disclosure of it, and which make a legally-compliant request for its disclosure.
- Closing a members account
Members may close their accounts by using the interface at the Galore Network website (www.galorenetwork.co.uk), whilst logged in.
Closed accounts do not receive any communication from Galore Network Service. After 1 year the account is deleted along with all information retained with it. During the year probation the account may be logged into and restarted by its owner, if it is restarted the 1 year countdown stops and will restart at the beginning if the account is again closed.
Accounts may not be completely deleted immediately to allow for possible legal action deriving from abuse the Galore Network Service, for this reason the information is held for a year in the form of an inactive account.
- Communication with members by Galore Network Service
Galore Network Services provide a number of different services and constantly add to this service offering. Membership to Galore Network Services means that you accept that we may contact you up to 4 times a year in the form of an email to the registered account to inform you of additions and enhancements to these services. As well as this certain Galore Network services offer opt-in newsletters, instructions for removal from such email lists will always be included in the newsletters.
- Access to your personal information
You have a right to request the personal information that NovaMarque holds on you. Personal information is only kept on members, and all elements of it may be accessed from the Galore Network website (www.galorenetwork.co.uk) whilst logged in.
